Precursor is a 3D Parkour Platformer in which you play as a young explorer, navigate their way through a temple in Indonesia to collect pieces of an ancient spear that is hidden within the temple.

I had two major roles in this project, one as a level designer, and the other as leading QA testing. I created the prototype for one of the sections of the game closer to the end, which involves using the newly attained grappling hook to swing from platform to platform to reach the last room of the temple. Working closely with the 3D artists, we decorated the temple in a manner that allowed most of the prototype to remain in tact, allowing for us to spruce up the area with decorations and finalize the game.

Upon QA testing, I started by creating a spreadsheet, then alongside the leads, we sent out the demo of the game alongside a survey to various people for testing. The survey responses were then written down by me in my spreadsheet where myself and the other devs would read from the responses and make various changes based on what we got. Leading QA was me, who would then test out the new changes made, and I would also add my own suggestions on how the game felt to play, as well as things like making sure the sounds playing were correct, and making sure lighting was okay.

ABOUT ME

My name is Glenndale Bartolome (AKA Gbartolome), and I am an aspiring game designer, hoping to get a career in level design. But I can do other stuff like write and playtest. I am a student of Fitchburg State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Game Design, and I have a strong passion for games, which led me down the career path I am in today. I hold special interest in seeing the structure and layout of a game's world, and how that world informs the game's story or lore.
